Living in Fethiye and being married to a Sea Captain allows me to give you a great insight into daily boat trips.
Fethiye, Oludeniz and Calis all cater for the sea worshippers amongst you each one has a large array of boats operating from May until October. In Fethiye it is a great sight to see the boats all lined up bobbing in the water waiting for their customers.
Whether you have chosen Small Bays or 12 Islands you will need plenty of Sun Cream and a towel. NOW time to find a spot to claim as my own, sit back relax, the wind in my hair and spray on my face.
We arrive at the first bay and told there is a 45 minute stop. Plenty of time to jump in the water and cool off. Most boats will have “noodles” for those not so confident in the water, goggles and snorkels to enable those of us that wish to look for buried treasure. I found a trilby once and insisted on wearing it for the rest of the trip. Looking back it probably wasn’t a good idea.
The barbeque is fired up and the smell of cooking coming from the galley is mouth watering. After our swim off we go again to the next bay where we eat lunch of salad, chicken, pasta and fish. Full to the brim the sails are unfurled and a lie down is called for whilst the boat glides along rocking from side to side like a giant cradle. In all we stop at around four bays having plenty of time to explore.
By the end of the day I guarantee a satisfying exhausted feeling of being on the water all day. Time to go home and wash the salt from my body and spend the next 30 minutes trying to get a brush through my hair. Happy Sailing!
